House of Pilate

The old half-timbered house on the Tiergertnertorplatz is called the Pilatushaus House. It was built in 1489, for the master who made knightly equipment - therefore, the corner of the facade is decorated with a statue of St. George, dressed in knightly armor. The basement of the house is made of pink sandstone; three floors were erected using half-timbered technology. The pediment with an octagonal turret was completed in the XVI century. Its name is "Pilatushouse".

Its name "Pilatushouse" received in the XVII century. This house marks the beginning of Christ's Way of the Cross (Kreuzweg), created from bas-reliefs by the sculptorAdam Craft.
